The Epilepsy Association of Calgary (EAC) is a charitable social service agency established to address community, individual, and family needs related to epilepsy. Like their penguin mascot, Echo, those with epilepsy have learned to deal with harsh conditions, and cope with enormous challenges on a daily basis. EAC supports those with and affected by epilepsy through enhanced personal understanding, coping capacity, social support, and access to community resources. They also promote public education about epilepsy through enhancing acceptance and integration. As Canada’s oldest incorporated epilepsy organization (established in 1955), EAC’s mission has been to limit negative stigmas about this hidden condition through public education, and enhance the quality of life of those affected by epilepsy.
