Meet “Diamond E.C.H.O.”, the Epilepsy Association of Calgary’s submission to the “Horses Jump to Give a Leg Up” Program. We are thrilled to share a little bit about our organization through our submission.
“Diamond” references the 60 years that we have served the Calgary and area community. E.C.H.O. is an acronym which reflects our purpose, “Epilepsy Calgary Helps Others”.
Will the help of a talented, and caring Western Artist, Darcy Presiloski, Diamond E.C.H.O. was designed using a painted pony motif to reflect our history and brand. If you look closely, you will find 60 penguins (one for each anniversary) rollicking and dancing across the horse’s body.
The creation of Diamond E.C.H.O. was a wonderful collaboration between Darcy, our own amazing volunteers, and our staff, and reflects the work, ideas, and creativity of everyone involved.
About Darcy Presiloski: As a result of early exposure to farm life, Darcy’s focus is on Western Art, particularly horses. She works in oils, pastels, graphite and charcoal. Her pieces have been juried in the Calgary Stampede Western Showcase for many years, and her work can be found in the Parks Canada collection and private collections throughout North America and New Zeland. Darcy is a member of the Cochrane Art Club and won the Cochrane Foundation Heritage Award in 2012.
We’d also like to acknowledge the talent and skills of Pam Atkinson, one of our own volunteers, and also a talented Artist associated with Bragg Creek Artisans. Other volunteers included aspiring artist, Teresa Mirazee, and Dan Pyper.
What fun it was to create Diamond E.C.H.O., and what a thrill to be selected to take part in the “Horses Jump to Give a Leg Up” Program.
